Beijing Tour - Summer Place, Temple of Heaven, etc.

These pictures are of the summer palace for the emporer.

This is called the marble boat.

The lady in the blue coat is our neighbor, Elva Orton. It was easy to keep track of her because of her coat.

We were amazed that everything was made by hand. The Chinese people work very hard and very long hours. This is the Jade factory.

The Donkey and cart were on the highway. I took this picture from the bus window.

We are eating the famous Beijing Roast Duck. It was good.

This man is glueing tiny pieces of the design on the vase. Very very intricate work. The lady is painting on the bowl.

These people sold us some pearl necklaces and had a scrapbook of pictures of the foreigners they sold things to. They took a picture of us, so we took a picture of them. It is a husband, wife and wife's sister. They showed us a picture of their baby son, who was with the grandparents. They make the necklaces on the spot. This was at the Silk Market. I did not see much silk there, but lots of other things like jewelry, clothing, shoes, crafts, etc.
This is the Temple of Heaver where the emporer would go to offer prayers or have his priests/monks pray for him.
